I’m new to this forum, although I have visited this site some years ago, when I was thinking of buying a digital keyboard and having it work as a virtual organ. Now I have an old Allen organ that I would like to convert to midi. Not sure how to proceed, so I’ll be doing a lot of reading here….

Peterchris, midifying an old electronic organ is a fun and challenging project. At its heart it is just using a switch to trigger an electronic circuit that sends out a MIDI message. But, as with just about everything involving organs, you do it many, many times, which ups the challenge of even the simplest of tasks. You will want to focus on the Building a Console and MIDI Electronics sections of this Forum. If you want input from armchair builders, start a new topic in MIDI Electronics describing your project. As you'll see, several people have done that and it has lead to interesting diaries of their progress and discussions of the design decisions they faced along the way.

Hi John. Nice to know you are still dropping by from time to time. Interestingly I am now living within driving distance of the Sanfillipo organ although I have yet to actually see it.

If you don't get there beforehand the AMICA and MBSI are holding a joint convention in the Chicago area later this year. It would be worth joining one or the other group just to be able to attend the events at the Sanfalippo Estate.
