Try connecting the MIDI Out of the Midisport to the MIDI In of the Midisport. Send ONE MIDI Event to the Midisport Out and see if the MIDI In flashes. This is likely to create a MIDI feedback loop so once you see the flash, disconnect the MIDI cable. You might lock up your computer and have to power it down.If you do get the flash, then your Midisport probably is OK. That would mean that the PSR-530 might not be sending the MIDI Out. Some keyboards can be configured to turn the MIDI Out off. So you might look in the manual to see if the PSR-530 has anything like that.

I have had the PSR-530 connected to another computer and Sibelius software and it has been working ok.
 
I connected Midi Out to Midi In.  On hitting a note in MidiTzer, the red Midi Out light flashes but not the green Midi In light.  Certainly no feedback loop created.  Do you think this means:
1) a fault in the Midisport? (no Midi In lights have never flashed since I bought it)
2) incorrect software/driver setup?
3) something else?

I'm suspecting a fault in the Midisport, which is surprising because they are built like tanks. Have you tried all four inputs? Did you buy it from a store to which you can return it?One thing does catch my eye, normally we don't configure the Miditzer to send MIDI Out to the interface. Did you specifically configure it to do so?

Thanks.  It turns out my PSR-530 has a sliding switch at the back which must have got moved while I was reattaching Midi leads.  So everything is working fine now.  What a fantastic program you have created

Hello everybody. I used to play hammonds but now I found that I have more of an interest in theatre pipe organs. Being as I am only sixteen, I do not have access to a real theatre organ, nor do I have much MIDI knowledge. I find the Miditzer to be a great invention. I recently went on ebay to buy a USB-MIDI adapter. On the the directions of the adapter, it tells me that red means on, green means play and blue means record. For some reason it is always on red and I could never get it to the green "play" setting. When I turn on the Miditzer, it tells me that I have something in but I do not know how to get it to set to any of the manuals. Under active MIDI input devices, it tells me that I have USB2.0-MIDI in. I do not know whether the problem is that the cord never turns on to the green "play" setting, or if I need help just setting the keyboard to the Miditzer. I really appreciate your time everyone,

What kind of keyboard are you hooking up to your USB->MIDI interface? Make sure that the MIDI Out on the keyboard is connected to the MIDI IN on the USB->MIDI interface.

Hello John,
I am using a Yamaha psr-E203. I did make sure that I did have the In to Out as Mr. Henry explained in his directions. Is it possible that this keyboard does not work with the Miditzer?

i used an older model a EZ 30 yamaha keyboard and had no problems in getting it to work straight away.
*Check in the menu of the yamaha keyboard where you select the different settings to see whether there is a MIDI on/off source selector which turns off the midi signal from being sent.

I've used the Yamaha YPT-210 which looks almost identical. I didn't have any problems or unusual set up issues. I am more suspicious of your MIDI to USB adapter. Being from eBay, I'm guessing this is a "no name" adapter?

First of all, you say you connected in to out, do you mean Adapter In to Yamaha Out?

Usually the "play" indicator is just a brief flash when you play a key. So does the indicator flicker at all when you play notes?

There are a few Adapters that try to be helpful and label the plugs according to where you would plug them in. Try connecting the Yamaha Out to the Adapter Out and see if that makes a difference.

Does the adapter have a name and/or model number? Maybe we can find an on-line manual which might help give you something better than mere guesses.

Hello Everybody,
I reversed the IN to OUT to IN to IN. It does the same exact thing as before. Even when I go to Miditzer input settings it still says the same exact thing. When I looked at the manual that came with the keyboard, it said nothing about a switch to turn MIDI on. The only thing that it did say about MIDI, was that you turn the local off and then you can use it for the MIDI output. I have the keyboard connected to the computer now and as I look at the adapter lights, it has a strong light on the on setting but when I look at the "play" setting like you said, it always has a faint flickering light. I think that maybe the problem is in the cord like Mr. Henry said. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would very much appreciate it. Thanks for all the help everyone,
