EdThanks for your prompt reply...The Midiox thing only sees the PC K/board...The Miditzer settings show I and II Sb Audigy...but initially only one is on the right hand side.Have tried one then both...same resultHave set my channels to 1,2,3 - then 1,1,1, - then 3,2,1 probably getting frustrated...Hmm... just don't knowMarko

MidiOx shouldn't be seeing the PC keyboard, only devices that generate or convey MIDI messages (into the computer). These are the MIDI generated events/messages.
When you open MidiOx, click on View then Input Monitor. In this window you will see a header: TIMESTAMP, IN, PORT, STATUS, DATA1, DATA 2, CHAN, NOTE, EVENT, which will show in the columns below the MIDI messages when a key is pressed on the Roland. The important items you should see are: the CHAN, NOTE, and EVENT (which is Note On and Note Off).
Click on the green circle with the 5 dots (symbal for a MIDI connector. You can drag this page to the right. It shows MIDI-OX Generated Events and below it, the Output Ports.
How exactly is the Roland keyboard connected into the computer?

A known problem exists when using a MidiSport UNO (midi to USB) cable. Can we assume you are connecting the k/b with a MIDI cable into the sound card MIDI Input?

Once you know the MIDI messages sent by the Roland K/B, you can match the channel, etc within the MidiTzer to that of the Roland.

EdThanks again...The midi cables are attached to the soundcard back plane and correctly attached to the Roland...The mystery continues as the Roland is accepted and playable by other Midi software with no problems....HmmmmmI guess it is just one of those things...!marko

You say MIDI cables. You only need one, MIDI OUT of the Roland to MIDI IN of the soundcard.

EdI have a standard siamesed Midi cable which includes the 2 plugs..have used these type of cables since 1995 with no problems....and still do..!It still doesn't fix my problem with Miditzer not seeing the Roland...I have used both the the Jeux soundfont as well as the Stephan SF version for many years and even gave it another bash this morning, played off the Roland, thru Cakewalk...no problems... maybe Miditzer dislikes Roland..

As I said, I guess it is just one of those things...!Thanks again Ed for your concernMarko

Marko,What type of sound card do you have?Exactly what does Cakewalk list for the MIDI In device that provides the connection to the Roland keyboard?Oh, I just remembered something. I think Cakewalk preempts the MIDI Devices when it is loaded. Have you been trying to use the Miditzer while Cakewalk is still loaded?

JimHi,...SB Audigy Platinum with external breakout box... midi cable connected to the Audigy cable which is a wide plug assembly with the midi sockets attached on the back plane...not at the box as it has non standard midi sockets....No, have not tried to use both pieces of software together...Cakey lists the midi in as the Audigy I (D400) from memory...on the other machine so not able to check now but will confirm later....Thanks again for a great piece of software and a great support networkRegardsMarko

FolksEUREKA.... or something similar...!The Roland has a SPLIT key amongst the usual bunch, Arrag, Low and Drums... and by default ARRAG is on, when I pressed a Roland key, it played the rhythm, aha, so if I select the SPLIT key and then the LOW option.... guess what... BINGOInteresting read elsewhere on the forum that if you delete the Miditzer XML file it will reload it on restart...gave it a try...Now the interesting bit...soundcard all present and correct...BUT the Channels were nothing like the default setting... it now showed 11, 12, 13on the right hand side in setup... so changed the left hand channel settings to match... am now enjoying that magic sound... the Wurly at full blast...Thaks folks for trying to get me going...just plain stubbornly picked away at it...I suppose it is all a bit like Black Magic...

Let the fun begin. Congrats, Marko Getting from point A to point B "ain't" all that easy sometimes. Channels 11,12,13 are okay as long as it isn't calling out 21,22 and 23.

I have installed MidiTzer 216 ok and the keyboard plays with the mouse or computer keyboard. The Midi Out lights on my recently acquired Midisport 4x4 light. But when I play on my Yamaha PSR-530 keyboard, whose Midi Out port is connected to Midi In of the Midisport, no Midisport Midi In lights come on and playing the Yamaha keyboard has no effect in MidiTzer. I tried a different midi cable but no luck. All ideas welcomed please clarihorn2008-08-13 14:53:47
