Jim:

Great "Zambonie" article...interesting reading.

Once everybody learns how to set combinations, maps, reversibles etc.,
how about registration???    It will take more time than
I have left on this earth to  try all the possibilities.

Hi John

Sorry for being slightly off topic here but I am new to this site and new to this wonderful world of MidiTzer.

You mention in this post that you use your EL90 with MidiTzer. I have the EL70 and just wondering if you have any useful tips on using the MidiTzer with this organ - settings, pistons, etc...

Any help much appreciared.
Thanks

Jim, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for the MidiTzer.  To make a long story short, I just downloaded it a few days ago while "on the road" and with limited internet access.  I also have no midi keyboard with me, so I am learning by playing a file then changing stops as it plays.  LOVE IT!!!

But the videos for the combination acction are different from what appears on the ver0.881 screen.  I think I have created generals by mapping the acc and solo pistons, but I am not sure if that is the official way to do it.  I usually use mostly generals and few divisionals anyway.  If you have time, could you do a printed update to combos and mapping regarding the version .881 in how it differs from the flash videos.  That would sure help and save time.

AND...

Within this past "discovery" week, discovering the MidiTzer, I was searching for a Yamaha organ to "play" the miditzer.  Started off finding a small Yamaha on Craigs list.  Then a fluke of nature just provided me with a Yamaha HX-1 as recommended by some other users!!!

Now, I can't wait to get back home and put the thing together.  While on the road, I am still setting the generals via the touchpad, wile listening to midi files others have recorded on the MidiTzer.

Thanks again for providing a GREAT program.  Please consider a printed update for combos and mapping with the version .881

Jim, you are the organ guru!

I have watched the videos and searched for an answer, but still have this question:

I started saving a few combinations, and was able to open them. Then I saved a few more, and from then on I could not open the saved combinations. Each time I tried to open a different saved combination the Miditzer opened with the stops in the same unchanged position as what I had before I attempted to open the saved combination.
thanks,
Richard

Richard,

I don't understand exactly what you are doing.

When you say "saving combinations" do you mean using the menu item "Save Combo File As..." or do you mean using the SET piston?

And when you say "open the saved combinations" do you mean using the menu item "Load Combo File"?

Where I get really confused is at your last sentence. The combinations are saved stop settings. The only time they do anything is when you press a piston. When you press a piston the registration associated with that piston on the selected memory level will be set. If you do a "Load Combo File" it will change what is in memory for the 230 pistons (23 pistons x 10 memory levels) but it won't change any stops. The difference will only become evident when you use a piston.

Just a hunch--take a look at the memory level indicator ("COMBINATION MEMORY") in the lower right. Have you changed that to a different level than the one where you stored your combinations? That could explain why things aren't working as expected.

Have you considered redoing the flash videos for the latest version of the 216? Does the S1 through A5 combinations directly translate into the 00 through 99 displayed in the video or do they have different meanings?

I've considered redoing the videos. It is just a problem of not enough hours in the day. The S1 to A5 is almost like the old 00 to 99 except that you just press MAP and one of the 10 numbered pistons.

I understand about the hours. Until I retired my life was pretty full. Since, I now have 24x7 care of my wife who suffers from Alzheimer's. Ten minutes here and a half hour there are my times to pursue my hobbies. Thanks for the reply.
