Winding down the Miditzer?

UPDATE: 20-May-2020 Due to an uptick in Style 260SP registration, I have the funding needed to continue supporting this website at least until the renewal fees are due toward the end of 2021. So please continue to post things that are relevant to the Miditzer and let's see if we can fan some flames from the flickering embers.

As I am sure any of you reading this have noticed, this Forum has become close to inactive. Registrations of the Style 260SP, which have been funding this website, have slowed to a trickle. Because of this, I think it may be time to close the doors on the Miditzer. I need to renew the website next month. My current plan is to do that to allow a year for an orderly shut down. I will be looking for a place that I can archive at least some of the Miditzer material, perhaps at theatreorgan.com. I will probably publish a free unlock code for the Style 260SP so that it remains available for anyone who wants to use it.

All of the above is tentative. I just wanted to give everyone as much advance notice as possible.

In many ways, this comes as a sad event as many of us got our taste of the Virtual Theatre Pipe Organ world with MidiTzer. Still, IMHO, a fantastic piece of software which plays "right out of the box" . Even tho I admittedly haven't been active here, I still play my 260SP Opus 7 and can say I enjoy it every bit as much as when I first downloaded it. Many thanks to you, Jim Henry. Both thumbs up for job well done.

I always thought the Miditzers were the best designed organs available for use on computers. Unfortunately they have recently not kept up with the many technical advancements now available for computer organs and I have noticed that the forum has become almost completely inactive.

I am sure there are still many satisfied Miditzer users, including me, who still play a Miditzer in preference to some other organs.

If the forum does close down I would be very willing and able to host all of the salvageable organ midi files on my website - I would devote a special new page to organ midis. I regularly play these midis myself on my organs and I know that these midis contain some of the best organ music available. I also know that many outsiders are not aware that these files exist and wider publicity would be of great benefit to many, especially new and potential new organists.

In hosting the Miditzer files after shutdown of the web site, I believe that I have all of the MIDI files for all the Miditzer models posted on the current Miditzer web site on a thumb drive. Since the Miditzer web site had some problems and some of the files were deleted, my files are more complete than the web site. If anyone wants the song files, contact me and I will make .zip files of the midi files and make them available for members. I do not have a web site.

bobinmissouri could you work with csw900 to host the MIDI files you have on that site? Regardless of what happens with the Miditzer site, I think it would be great to give the MIDI files a wider exposure. I'd also like to have a copy of your collection. Perhaps as I archive the site, I could also host the files in a more accessible way than buried in the Forum.

Jim, I will contact csw900 and work with him about the MIDI files that were posted to the Miditzer internet site. I will also make a copy for your use. The various Miditzer songs should be preserved for anyone that has and uses the Miditzer.

Miditzer members: I don't know if these zip files are too large to be attached to a Miditzer announcement message but I have attached these in this message. With the Miditzer winding down, I want to post a copy of all the song files for the various Miditzer types that members have sent in. I made a thumb memory stick copy of all the files that were posted, when I became a member. I have kept the thumb memory stick updated as the files accumulated from the members. There were some problems with the Miditzer web site that caused song files to be lost a few years ago. I believe these .zip files contain all of those songs that were lost. May I suggest that all of you members who have a miditzer and play files, download these .zip files, unzip the files, and select those files to make your specific music files complete on your computer. I think that this may be your last chance to get these files from the Miditzer Forum web site before it is closed down. In your review of the songs in the file, you may find many first attempts of new members to record their songs. Please delete them, if you don't want them, as you look through the songs. Everyone has to start somewhere and as time go on they get better at recording the songs. I was one of those members at one time and eventually got the hang of it. I appreciate all your patience with my recordings and I wish you all well. Thanks to Jim Henry for bringing the Miditzer to anyone that wanted it. I still don't have a user permit to the 260SP Miditzer and I hope that Jim will make that available soon. to all. For those that have 260SP Miditzer the thumb drive file should be complete as all the rest.
