 160C
Hi All.  Pipevoice and I (more I ) have tried the 160c as stand alone and played from the 260 console.  Jim is corect that it is a bit diferent from the TPO many of ous are use to,  but still , playes from the console and sounds good. I really like the celest strings and re-iterate xylo.
Enjoying  thye NEW 260SP UP-GRADE. Pipevoice  even tried the record  feature. I did but I am not the beter payer. He will have to release his midi playing files.
     Happy hollidays to all.

Hi all
I loaded the new 160c to a friends computer (he does not play and does not have any midi cables connected).
After loading the program, i loaded a piano midi file that i had been sent.

The tune started up, the piano keyboard was only working from about middle G up and the solo manual was playing the base from that G down.

I then went to input to see what was going on.
All keyboards where listed as channel one- i cannot remember if the keyboard had been split with the notes-- -because the funny thing was that i could not change the settings--it did not matter which keyboard i selected or number i selected it there where no numbers come up to change it too.

Has anybody else struck this problem?

I will try on my system tonight as i did not have a copy of the 160 at home if i wiped it off my system-(thumbsticks i left at work and also had run out of cd/dvd disc's as well.!!)

I am having a "ball" playing the 160C.  It's amazing that somebody ever thought of such a thing in the first place.  I've found an organ setting that I love to use while playing the piano at the same time.  Both of them together sound just great..to me anyhow. Thanks Jim for sharing this.  You are indeed full of pleasant surprises.Jack

Ian, you should "look inside" the piano MIDI file to see how it is using the channels. Many put everything on channel 1 and those should play on the Accompaniment without fuss. But some piano files split the notes over several channels to allow more control over the playback and these types need some work before they can be played with the 160C player.

I just tried it, it's superb!I modified it slightly though, so now it's using the Bruce Miles' Compton soundfont instead of the provided Wurli soundfont (except for the piano, the traps and the rest of the percussion, that's using the 260 soundfont, hehe). Either way, it sounds awesome!

Re: 160 from 260 console and scanned rolls

Great 160 program. Good stand alone w/ scanned midi rolls or from my 260. I noticed the celest string on the 160 is different from my 260 celeste ? The reiterating xylo. works nice as is or , again from my 260 to the second pc. Midi Solutions quad thru got my second pc working .
Good job all

What is the thing on the 160C console above the Tremulant tabs? It goes down and up when you touch it with the computer mouse left click. I have not found out what is does or what effect it has. I have run out of things to try.

It is a snare drum. If you aren't hearing anything, that suggests that something is amiss with the sound font.

Thanks Jim for your reply. The lever does play the snare drum at a very low level volume. I need to have the volume pedal and the sound turned up in order to hear it. This led me to checking the sound levels of the other percussions. The snare drum and Tambourine stops are very low level volume as compared to the other stops. As you indicated there is possibly something set wrong in the sound font.
